The kiwi is a flightless bird native to New Zealand. There are five recognised species of kiwi, all of which are found in different parts of the country. The North Island brown kiwi is found in the North Island, the Stewart Island brown kiwi is found on Stewart Island, the Great Spotted kiwi is found in the North, South and Stewart Islands, the Okarito kiwi is found on the West Coast of the South Island, and the Rowi kiwi is found in the South Island.
