Why can birds sit on a power line without getting shocked?

Birds do get shocked if they touch both wires of a power line at the same time, however, because they usually only touch one wire, they avoid completing a circuit and getting electrocuted. Additionally, birds have dry, scaly feet that act as insulators, helping to prevent the flow of electricity. Moreover, birds have a high resistance to electricity compared to humans due to their unique physiology and their ability to sense electric fields, allowing them to avoid high voltage areas.
