Instructions
Take your canary to the vet if your canary usually sings and has stopped. In addition, take your canary to the vet for regular vet checkups to ensure they are healthy. Unhealthy birds will not sing. Birds who are molting may not sing since they are using their energy to regrow feathers.
Purchase good quality, fresh birdseed that is specifically recommended for canaries. Treat your canary daily to fresh fruits and vegetables such as leafy greens to provide a well-balanced diet. Keep clean water, non-chlorinated in the birdcage at all times.
Purchase the correct type of cage. Ensure the cage is at least an 18-by-18-by-18-inch rectangular cage because canaries need space to fly vertically.
Set your canary's cage in a peaceful, quiet spot. Avoid areas near windows that look out over roads or lights. Cover your canary's cage with a blanket or cage cover as the sun goes down to make your canary feel safe.
Clean your canary's cage often. Replace old newspaper in the bottom of the cage with fresh paper on a daily basis and clean it when it's dirty, reports Aria From a Birdcage. Clean the canary's water bottle.
Give the canary something to sing along to. Play peppy, up-tempo tunes or special canary music to teach your canary to sing. Play the music daily so the canary will remember the notes. Sing lullabies or soothing songs to your canary. In addition, use soft speech and gentle movements around your canary to make it feel comfortable.
