Hatching
Budgie chicks hatch after an incubation period of 18-21 days. They are born blind and naked, and weigh only about 2 grams. Their eyes will open within a few days, and their feathers will start to grow in.
Nestling Period
The nestling period lasts for about 3-4 weeks. During this time, the chicks will stay in the nest and rely on their parents for food. The parents will regurgitate food into the chicks' mouths. The chicks will also start to learn how to fly.
Weaning
Weaning is the process of transitioning the chicks from a diet of regurgitated food to solid foods. This process usually begins around 4 weeks of age. The chicks will start to eat seeds and other solid foods, but they may still occasionally beg their parents for regurgitated food.
Moulting
Moulting is the process of shedding old feathers and growing new ones. Budgies typically moult twice a year, in the spring and fall. Moulting can be a stressful time for budgies, so it's important to provide them with plenty of rest and nutrition.
