Instructions

    • 1

Build a temporary home with a nesting box or shoe box filled with alfalfa to provide security and warmth to your baby bird. You can even get creative with your bird house and built up a bird nest of your own style.

    • 2

Fit a water bottle into the nesting box beside the food source so that the bird can have access to plenty of food and water all the times. Birds need plenty of fresh water and their water should be changed at least once a day to prevent contamination.

    • 3

Clean the nesting box regularly each day to remove any fecal matter and discarded food to avoid any infection or bacteria and encourage a sanitary environment for your bird. Dishes should be washed daily in hot soapy water. No food should remain in the cage for longer than 24 hours, as the risk of fecal contamination or spoiling is high.

    • 4

Place the bird's starter cage near another mature bird's cage if you are raising several birds. In this way the baby bird will be able to grow faster as it will follow the mature bird as it would follow it's own parent's foot steps.

    • 5

Monitor your bird's developmental stages to determine when it's time for the bird to spread it's wings and shift it to a larger cage so that it will be able to begin to develop the ability to fly and develop as an adult bird should. This is a behavior you can eventually develop an eye for, but first use a reference source indicating developmental patterns for species of birds until you gain experience.
