What is a vaconstrictor?

Vacuoconstrictors are any agents or medications that cause vacuolization and/or constriction of the urinary bladder during cystoscopic procedures

Some drugs may cause urinary vacuolization when used prior to intravesical procedures like potassium alum, aluminium acetate, silver nitrate and even formalin. It is hypothesized that these agents irritate and injure superficial mucosal cells, while allowing deeper cell layers to herniate through, to replace these damaged layers.
