When do baby quails learn to fly?

Quails are precocial birds, which means that they are hatched in a relatively advanced state of development and are able to leave the nest within a few hours or days. However, it takes them several weeks to develop their full flight capabilities.

For example, the Bobwhite quail (Colinus virginianus) hatch after an incubation period of about 23 days. They are able to walk, run, and feed themselves shortly after hatching. However, they cannot fly until they are about 7-10 days old. By 2-3 weeks of age, they are able to fly well enough to escape from predators and fly short distances in search of food and water.
