What are the 4 species of tapir?

There are actually four species of tapir, not three:

1. Brazilian Tapir (Tapirus terrestris): Found in Central and South America. It is the largest tapir species.

2. Mountain Tapir (Tapirus pinchaque): Found in the Andes Mountains of South America. It is the smallest tapir species and has a distinctive reddish-brown coat.

3. Baird's Tapir (Tapirus bairdii): Found in Central America and parts of Mexico. It is the most common tapir species and has a dark brown coat with a distinctive white stripe on its neck.

4. Malay Tapir (Tapirus indicus): Found in Southeast Asia. It has a distinctive black and white coloration and is the only tapir species found outside of the Americas.
