Travel to New Zealand. The only place in the world where Kiwis are wild is in their country of origin. You may be able to see a Kiwi in a state zoo, but a wild Kiwi is only found on the temperate island of New Zealand.
Go to one of the national parks of New Zealand. You might be lucky and see a Kiwi in the wild outside a national park, but if you want to be certain to see one, you will have to go to one of these national parks.
Locate the ranger station in the park. These ranger stations will often have maps of the park that pinpoint the general location of a group of animals. Among these animals is the Kiwi bird. Getting one of these maps will help direct you to one of the natural reserves of Kiwi.
Go to one of the spots dictated on the map. Do not just expect to walk into a flock of Kiwi, though. You might have to look around a little to see them. Be patient and you will eventually see one of these majestic, rare birds.
How to See Wild Kiwi Birds
In the depths of New Zealand's wilderness there dwells a small flightless bird known as the Kiwi. Not to be confused with the tropical fruit, the Kiwi is the smallest known flightless bird. In proportion to their bodies, Kiwis lay the largest eggs of any bird in existence. The Kiwi is the national bird of New Zealand, making it illegal to shoot or kill one. They are often protected in national parks or reserves. Seeing a wild Kiwi bird is a simple thing to do as long as you don't mind traveling.
