Blue-Headed Pionus

Blue-headed Pionus parrots are medium-sized birds, growing to less than a foot long. They have green feathers on their bodies, with dark blue feathers on their necks and heads. Although many Pionus parrots do well at learning words, the blue-headed Pionus is not known for this trait.
White-crowned Pionus

White-crowned Pionus parrots are a smaller Pionus type, growing to only about 9 inches long. They are very intelligent and have strong, curious personalities. White-crowned Pionus parrots have blue, green, or yellow feathering on their bodies, and a patch of white feathers on the tops of their heads.
Bronze-winged Pionus

As their name implies, bronze-winged Pionus parrots usually have dark blue feathers over their bodies and bronze or brown feathers on their wings. These birds also sometimes have white chins or collars. Bronze-winged Pionus parrots grow to about a foot long, and have a slightly stocky appearance. They are a typical example of the Pionus breed's friendly, undemanding nature.
Maximilian's Pionus

Maximilian's Pionus is a parrot that is very trainable, and is especially good at learning words. They tend to be very obedient and also have a lovable personality, making them an exceptional choice for a pet. These birds appear to be drably colored, often displaying lots of muted tones and grays. However, when seen in the sunlight, Maximilian's Pionus parrots show a dazzling array of subtle, shining colors. Maximilian's Pionus is one of the larger Pionus types, usually growing up to about a foot long.
Coral Billed Pionus

Coral Billed Pionus parrots are very similar to the Maximilian's Pionus, in size, coloring and personality. These birds are one of the more friendly Pionus types, and are easy to train. They are colored in muted greens and blues, and sport a bright pink or red beak, as opposed to the yellow beak of the other Pionus parrot types.
Dusky Pionus

Dusky Pionus are not as brilliantly colored as other types of Pionus parrots. Their feathers appear to be a range of browns, violets and blues. The dusky Pionus is one of the noisier Pionus parrots, but is still relatively quite when compared to other parrot breeds. Dusky Pionus parrots have sharp memories and are easy to train. They excel at learning easy tricks. These Pionus parrots are medium-sized, growing to between 9 and 10 inches long.
Plum-crowned Pionus

The plum-crowned Pionus is one of the rarer types of Pionus parrots, and is not generally sold as a pet. These parrots are generally green-colored along their bodies, with red or purple markings along their heads and necks.
White-headed Pionus

White-headed Pionus parrots differ from the white-capped Pionus in that they have more white coloring along their heads and necks. These white feathers are often tipped with red. The body feathers of the white-headed Pionus range from red to brown. These birds are not usually sold as pets, and are most commonly found only in the wild.
