Blue Quaker Parrot Information

Blue Quaker parrots are "large personality" birds in a small package. Intelligent, resourceful and extremely playful, it should be noted that a new owner understand what owning a blue Quaker parrot entails.
  1. Size

    • Blue Quaker parrots are somewhat smaller than their green Quaker parrot cousins. They usually weighing about 100 grams (3.53 oz.), while green Quaker parrots usually weigh 120 grams (4.23 oz.).

    Temperament

    • Quaker parrots are temperamental, but blue Quakers are noted to be slightly "sweeter". Naturally, this depends on the individual bird.

    Speech

    • Bird people will tell you that blue Quakers do not talk as much as green Quaker parrots, for the most part. The more effort put into teaching your blue Quaker to talk, however, the more likely that it will be a good talker.

    Lifespan

    • Blue Quaker parrots will live for up to 30 years and, in some cases, have lived longer than that. They are hardy enough to live in the wild, and even have adapted to live in cold climates.

    As Pets

    • Blue Quakers make terrific pets, if you know what you're doing. They are playful, intelligent and entertaining, but they also are territorial.
