What are white peacocks?

White peacocks are a variant of the Indian peafowl (Pavo cristatus), one of two peafowl species native to the Indian subcontinent, and can exhibit various shades of white in their plumage.

While white peafowl may appear completely devoid of color, many display delicate iridescent tones and subtle undertones. They possess striking iridescent eyespots adorned with vibrant blues, turquoises, and greens on their majestic tail feathers, just like common Indian peacocks. White peacocks hold cultural and symbolic significance, commonly regarded as harbingers of peace, serenity, and purity. In certain cultures and beliefs, they symbolize divine guidance and spirituality. White peacocks, although less prevalent than common Indian peacocks, bring their own enchanting presence to both nature and art when it comes to peafowl diversity.
