Where did Parrots originate from?

The parrots are believed to have originated from the ancient supercontinent of Gondwana, which included present-day South America, Africa, Madagascar, India, Australia, and Antarctica. Fossil records suggest that parrots first appeared in the late Cretaceous period, around 85 million years ago. The oldest known parrot fossil, known as Mopsitta tanta, was found in Argentina. Over time, parrots diversified and spread to various regions of the world, with the greatest diversity found in the tropical and subtropical regions of South America, Africa, and Australia.
