How many ducks in the world?

It is difficult to provide a precise number for how many ducks there are in the world since they can be found in a wide variety of habitats and reproduce and migrate very quickly. Wild duck populations can vary significantly due to factors such as habitat availability, food resources, and hunting pressure. Additionally, there are numerous species of ducks, each with its own population size.

However, some researchers have attempted to estimate the number of wild ducks worldwide. One study conducted by the conservation organization Wetlands International estimated that there were approximately 1.6 billion waterfowl in the world, and in this number ducks represent about 75% of the total waterfowl, around 1.3 to 1.4 billion ducks worldwide.

This number includes various duck species, such as mallards, teals, pintails, and more. However, it should be emphasized that these estimates can vary depending on the specific study and the data sources used.
