Do great blue herons fly south?

Great blue herons are large wading birds that are found in North and South America. In general, great blue herons are not long-distance migrants, and most populations only move short distances to find suitable habitat for nesting and feeding. However, some populations of great blue herons do engage in long-distance migrations. For example, the great blue herons that breed in the northernmost part of their range may migrate south to warmer climates for the winter. Some great blue herons may even migrate as far south as Central America and the Caribbean.
