What is a partridge?
A partridge is a small to medium-sized bird of the family Phasianidae. These ground birds are found in woodlands, scrub, grasslands and other open habitats throughout the world. Partridges are typically grey or brown in colour, with black stripes or flecks on their feathers. They have short, rounded wings and relatively long tails. Partridges feed mainly on seeds, berries and insects. Some partridges are known for their elaborate mating rituals, which often involve elaborate displays of feathers and courtship songs.
