What breed is nyan cat?

Nyan Cat is not a real cat, and therefore doesn't have a breed. It's a popular internet meme featuring a cartoon cat with a Pop-Tart body and a rainbow tail.

The cat's design is based on a Japanese breed of cat called the Japanese Bobtail. The Bobtail's distinct short, stubby tail is similar to the tail on Nyan Cat.
