What age do cats start to purr?

Cats start to purr very early in life, even before they open their eyes!

* In the womb: Kittens can actually purr while still in the womb, though it's faint and not fully developed.

* Shortly after birth: Within days of birth, kittens begin to purr, using it as a way to communicate with their mothers and siblings.

So, while there isn't a specific age they "start" purring, it's a behavior they are born with and start using almost immediately.
