Instructions
Building Your Perch
Fold two ends of your fleece (or other heavy fabric) to make it 12 inches by 24 inches. Sew folds or use adhesive along the folded-under edge. The openings should be at least 1.5 inches in diameter to fit the PVC pipe through.
Measure the 'flat' part of your window sill. This is the area the perch will rest on. Subtract the length of your sill (in inches) from 12 inches (the length of your perch) to get the length of the bottom legs.
Connect the two 12-inch sections of pipe to either end of one 24-inch section using a 3-way connector.
Connect the 8-inch sections of pipe to the open ends of the 3-way connector, and place the 90-degree connectors at the other ends of the 8-inch sections. Connect the two bottom leg sections to the open ends of 90-degree connectors.
Slide the open ends of your fabric over the 12-inch PVC pipes to create the hammock, or perch. Be sure to have the folds on the bottom for a clean look.
Place the remaining two 90-degree connectors on both 12-inch pieces of PVC pipe. Attach the remaining 24-inch piece of PVC pipe to these connectors.
Place PVC caps or rubber feet on the bottom legs. The bottom legs will rest against the wall, the caps will protect against scratching.
Place your cat's perch in the window sill. Rest the capped legs on the wall, and use your hand to put pressure on the hammock. Your hammock should rest against the wall, and not tip over. Once you have tested the strength of your hammock/perch, consider placing a catnip toy or spraying it with sprayable catnip to get your cat interested.
