When is mating season for owls?
Mating season for owls varies depending on the species, but generally occurs in late winter to early spring. Some species, such as the Great Horned Owl, may begin as early as December or January, while others, like the Barred Owl, may wait until March or April. Most temperate owl species lay their eggs in nests typically located in trees or rock crevices. The female owls incubate the eggs for about a month and the young are fledged (able to fly) about two months after hatching.
