Things You'll Need
- Cloth
- Water
- Rounded scissors
- Moisturizer
Instructions
Wipe off each of your cat's paw pads using a cloth dampened with warm water. Do this once a day to prevent dirt from getting stuck between the pads and in the claws.
Look over your cat's paw pads daily for cuts and scratches. Clean out minor scratches with water and contact your vet for any injuries that are bleeding.
Frequently massage the paw pads, which will help your cat become comfortable with cleaning and nail trimming.
If your cat is licking the hair between toes, trim it with rounded scissors. This is much more common on long-haired than short-haired cats.
Moisturize your cat's paw pads during hot and cold weather. Your veterinarian can recommend an appropriate moisturizer.
