Instructions
Call either your veterinarian or a local groomer that will work with cats and explain the problem. Make an appointment to take your kitty in as soon as possible for a professional flea treatment.
Transport your cat safely. Place your cat in a sturdy carrier for transport to the appointment. Allowing your kitty to be loose in the car while you're driving is unsafe and will stress your cat further.
Arrange for a home exterminator to tackle the fleas in your house. Not all of them are on the cat, and you don't want them to jump back on your soon-to-be flea-free pet. Instruct the home exterminator to focus on the areas where your cat spends most of its time -- on the sofa, in your bed, or other special kitty sleeping spaces.
After the veterinarian or groomer has treated your cat for fleas, adhere to follow-up instructions. Make and keep any follow-up appointment your vet or groomer schedules. If you are instructed to do anything special for your cat once you return home, regarding combing or applying more flea medication, do so.
