Things You'll Need
- Large towel (optional)
- Cotton balls
- Cotton swabs
Instructions
Moisten four or five cotton balls and swabs with a small amount of warm water. Squeeze them out to remove any excess water. It's important to have them ready before you approach your cat.
Restrain your cat when he's calm and relaxed. If your cat will not sit still, coax him with treats and wrap his body in a large towel, leaving his head peeking out. This will prevent your cat from scratching you or running away.
Wipe the cat's ear lobe and cartilage gently with a moist cotton ball, changing the cotton ball as it gets dirty. Work on one ear at a time.
Wipe any small crevices in the cat's ear cartilage with a cotton swab. Do not insert the cotton swab in the ear canal, as this can damage the cat's ear or push wax further in.
Feed the cat treats after cleaning the first ear to reward her good behavior.
Clean the second ear the same as the first, and feed your cat treats afterward.
