How to Size Soft Claws

Soft Claws are used as an alternative to clipping your cat's claws. Soft Claws are plastic claw covers that will stop your cat from scratching. The soft claws will last about six weeks before they need to be replaced. Soft claws come in a variety of colors. In order for the soft claws to stay on, they must fit properly. Make sure that you size the soft claws properly before you glue them on.

Determine the proper size for the Soft Claws based on your cat's size and age. Kittens that are less than 6 months old will use kitten soft claws. Cats that are about 6 months old and weigh between 6 and 8 lbs will use the small soft claws. Adult cats that are 9 to 13 lbs will use medium soft claws. Large soft claws are for cats that weigh more than 14 lbs. These are for large breed cats.

Test the Soft Claws first. Place the Soft Claws onto your cat's claws without using the adhesive. The claws should be a snug fit. For very small cats you can trim the base of the Soft Claws to fit the nails properly.
