How to Bathe a Cat With Home Remedies to Kill Fleas

If your cat had been scratching a lot, fleas might be the reason. Fleas not only are bothersome to your pet, but also can take up residence in your home and afflict your family. You can buy commercial flea treatments from most pet stores; however, these products are costly and often contain ingredients that may not be gentle on your cat's skin. Instructions

Fill the bathtub one-quarter full with lukewarm water. Pour 3 tbsp. of mild dish soap under the running water. Add 5 drops of citrus extract.

    • 2

Put your cat in the water. Enlist a helper to assist in bathing the cat. Cats don't like water so it is likely your pet will squirm and try to get away.

    • 3

Use your hands to scoop the bath water onto your cat. Rub the cat's fur thoroughly with your fingers to create a lather. Make sure not to get the soapy water into the cat's eyes. Leave the soapy water on your cat for at least five minutes. The citrus extract kills fleas and the soapy water will drown them, so it is important to keep the mixture on long enough to effectively kill them.
