How to Remove Pet Cat Hair

Although cats can be nice companions and fun to play with, most cats shed quite a bit. As many people know, cat hair seems to get all over the couches, carpet and your clothing. Although it can be vacuumed up, the vacuum may not get every piece of hair. Instead of giving up on cleaning all the fur, there are a few easy--and slightly unconventional--ways to remove the fur quickly from your home.

Things You'll Need

  • Rubber gloves
  • Rubber squeegee
  • Vacuum
  • Lint brush

Instructions

    • 1

Put on a pair of regular rubber gloves that you clean the home with. Run your hands over the couch, carpet, rugs, and so on to remove the large clumps of fur.

    • 2

Run a rubber squeegee along the couch cushions, carpet, bedding, pillows, and so on to remove the smaller clumps, leaving only single-stranded fur behind. For carpets and rugs, vacuum after using the squeegee to remove the rest of the hair.

    • 3

Pull a lint brush down the length of your couch and bedding to remove the rest of the fur. If a few too many strands are left behind--and won't be picked up by the lint brush--move on to Step 4.

Cut off a piece of duct tape about 4 inches long. Place the tape over the area where the few strands remain, then pull it off. The duct tape will remove all of the last little pieces of fur from your couch, pillows, bedding and clothing.
