Instructions
Brush the Maine Coon cat daily. A daily brushing will help avoid knots. Get the cat used to being brushed as a kitten. Carefully brush every part of the cat's fur including the ends around the tail and over the ears.
Use a small pair of scissors to pick out knots. A Maine Coon cat may easily develop knots in their long fur. If knots accumulate in the cat's fur gently tease them out with a small pair of scissors. Give the cat kitty treats as you pull out knots to make this process flow more smoothly.
Bathe the cat once a month. A monthly bath is an ideal way to keep the cat's coat in order. Start by getting the cat wet with water. Add goop to the cat's fur. This will help keep it shiny. Wash out the goop thoroughly. Wet the cat again. Clean the cat's fur with cat shampoo. Rinse completely.
Dry off the cat. Use a hair dryer if possible. If the cat is afraid use a towel. Keep the cat in a clean and dry corner for at least an hour. The Maine Coon cat will lick her fur dry.
