Instructions
Bathe your Persian cat. Make sure to rinse all of the shampoo out of the Persian's hair, or it will make the hair limp and greasy.
Place the Persian cat onto a table after the bath to towel dry. Lay one towel on the table and use another to rub the cat down. This will help eliminate some of the excess water and allow the air to hit the hairs to make it fluff.
Put the Persian cat into a carrier. Use a cage dryer used by groomers instead of a hair dryer used by people. Cage dryers do not get as hot as hair dryers. Place it facing the cat for 15 minutes. Then, put the cat back onto the table to sprinkle cornstarch baby powder into the hair, particularly on the back of the legs, chest and on the back of the ears. This will keep the hair from greasing up after the hair dries, which will keep it fluffy. Towel down the cat again.
Finish drying the Persian cat with the cage dryer. Keep the cat on the table and use a comb to gently comb out the hair with the dryer facing the area you are combing. The powder should help eliminate most of the tangles. Dry the hairs upwards to make the hair very fluffy.
Comb daily. The Persian coat has a thick undercoat and will need daily grooming. Comb the legs, chest and tail, particularly where there is the most hair. Fluff it by combing upwards. Do not pull through tangles; gently comb them out.
