Things You'll Need
- Packing or duck tape
- Rubber brush or mitt
- Hand-held vacuum
Instructions
Use a hand-held vacuum to vacuum the furniture that is covered in cat fur. This will help to remove the worst of the cat fur from the surface. If you have a hand-held vacuum with a rotating brush, it will work much better than one that does not have a brush. The brush will help lift the fur from the furniture so the vacuum can actually suck it up.
Brush the furniture with a rubber brush. There are a few sizes of rubber brushes. One size can be used on large pieces of furniture and also on carpeted floors to help get rid of pet fur. Another size can be used on smaller furniture and also to get into the crevices of a chair or sofa. Rubber brushes can also be used to brush the cat himself to pick up any loose fur before it becomes attached to the furniture.
Roll tape around your hand to form a loop. Use the tape loop to pick up stubborn cat fur that is strongly held to the furniture. Roll the tape back and forth on the furniture to pick up the loose cat fur. Once the tape has lost its stickiness, cut a new piece of tape, make a new tape roll, and repeat the process. Continue this until the cat fur is removed from the furniture.
Brush your cat on a daily basis. The best way to eliminate cat fur from building up on furniture is to ensure the cat does not have loose hair to shed on the furniture. By grooming him daily, you will get rid of the excess fur, and therefore it won't turn up on your sofa or chair.
