How to Make Waves With a Cornish Rex

A Cornish Rex is an extremely loving and friendly variety of feline that has been recognized since the 1950s. This interesting breed is thinner than your average cat with a fine, silky and down-like fur. The fur has naturally occurring waves and curls that many owners enjoy petting and maintaining. Little work is necessary to do this, however, as the consistency of the Cornish Rex's fur manages on its own to keep the waves looking good.

Brush your Cornish Rex with a ribbed rubber brush two to three times a week to help with shedding and to keep the waves lustrous. The curls and waves form on their own when the kitten turns approximately three months old, so you do not have to do anything extra to maintain them.

Wipe your cat's face with a soft wash cloth two to three times a week to keep the hair on its face clean. The Cornish Rex is a clean cat and is good at grooming itself, but this added measure helps keep the cat particularly clean.

Feed your Cornish Rex a quality cat food to ensure that its coat stays clean and shiny, and that the cat maintains good health. A healthy cat will have the most healthy fur possible. A quality cat food should have protein listed as the first ingredient on the label and avoid any fillers.
