How Do I Groom My Lynx Cat?

While there are wild lynx cats, there is also a domestic breed of lynx cats not yet recognized by the Cat Fancier's Association. These large cats have short-to-medium length hair and make good pets because they are sociable and gentle. Although all cats groom themselves by licking their fur, there are other grooming needs a lynx cat cannot do for himself. Regular grooming keeps the cat̵7;s fur silky and greatly reduces fur balls. By grooming a lynx cat an owner keeps the cat̵7;s skin and coat healthy and in good condition.

Instructions

    • 1

Comb the cat̵7;s fur with a metal comb once a week. Remove all small mats to prevent them from becoming large mats. Always comb or brush in the direction the fur is going, never against the fur.

    • 2

Brush the lynx̵7;s hair after combing. Use a bristle or rubber brush and brush in one direction in a gentle motion. This is soothing to many cats and also removes loose and dead hair.

Cut the lynx̵7;s nail every two to three weeks, depending on how fast the nails grow. Use a top quality nail clipper or nail scissors made for cats. Hold the cat firmly and press the pads to extend the claws. Carefully cut the tip of the nails at the point where the nails start to curl. Make certain that you don̵7;t cut the quick or the vein in the cat̵7;s nail. The pinkish red vein is visible through the nail.
