How do you look after a canary?

Cage:

- Size: The cage should be at least 18 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 18 inches high.

- Location: Place the cage in a quiet area of the house, away from drafts and direct sunlight.

- Perches: Provide several perches of different diameters and textures.

- Toys: Canaries enjoy toys such as mirrors, bells, and swings.

Food:

- Seed mix: A good quality seed mix should form the base of the canary's diet.

- Fresh fruits and vegetables: Canaries should be offered a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables, such as apples, oranges, bananas, carrots, and broccoli.

- Water: Fresh water should be available at all times.

Care:

- Bathing: Canaries enjoy bathing and should be provided with a shallow dish of water for this purpose.

- Grooming: Canaries should be brushed regularly to help keep their feathers in good condition.

- Nails: The canary's nails should be trimmed regularly to prevent them from becoming too long and sharp.

- Health: Canaries are susceptible to a variety of illnesses, so it's important to take them to the vet for regular checkups.

Social Interaction:

- Canaries are social birds and enjoy spending time with their owners.

- Talk to your canary regularly and let it out of its cage for supervised time outside the cage.
