Cats are extremely sensitive to ibuprofen and other nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like Advil. Even a small amount can cause serious health problems, including:
* Gastrointestinal upset: Vomiting, diarrhea, ulcers, and bleeding
* Kidney failure: Ibuprofen can damage the kidneys, leading to kidney failure.
* Liver damage: Ibuprofen can also damage the liver.
* Anemia: Ibuprofen can interfere with the production of red blood cells, leading to anemia.
Symptoms of Ibuprofen Toxicity in Cats:
* Vomiting
* Diarrhea
* Loss of appetite
* Lethargy
* Weakness
* Abdominal pain
* Blood in the urine or stool
* Seizures
If you suspect your cat has taken Advil, contact your veterinarian immediately. This is an emergency situation.
Never give your cat any human medications without first consulting your veterinarian.
