Monitor what time of day and under what circumstances the cat cries. A pattern may emerge that will give you a clue to why your cat is crying. An older cat that cries mostly at night may be losing sight or hearing. A cat that cries only around feeding time may just be trying to get your attention. An unspayed female cat may howl when she is in heat. A cat that is very nocturnal may want you to play with it at night.
Inventory recent changes in your own life. A frequent cause of a crying cat is stress or anxiety, especially if something in the household has changed. Some examples of a stressful change are a recent move, absence of the owner due to a new job or commitment, aggressive behavior with another cat, recent death or sickness of another cat, a new baby or a new pet.
Bring your cat to the veterinarian if you cannot figure out what the cause of the crying is or if you are unsure. Crying can be a sign your cat is in pain or is not feeling well. Take a crying cat seriously, as it can be a sign that your cat is ill.
Implement the necessary changes to alter your cat's behavior. Treat stress-related crying with pheromone diffusers, sprays and collars available over the counter. Your veterinarian can prescribe antidepressants. An older cat that is disoriented at night may benefit from having the litter box, food, and water close to its owner's bed at night. A cat that is lonely or bored may enjoy the addition of a new cat companion. A cat that wants to play at night might enjoy more play time during the evening so it is more tired at night. An unspayed female cat will benefit from being fixed.

The cry of a Siamese cat is sometimes mistaken for a crying baby. Siamese cats are infamous for their unique vocalization. They are one of the most talkative cat breeds; they communicate with a variety of sounds including their loud, distinct cry. Extreme or frequent vocalization can be disruptive and frustrating for a cat owner. It can also be a sign that a cat is unhappy or ill. Luckily, there are ways to find out why your Siamese cat is crying and put a stop to the clamor.
