Things You'll Need
- Litter box liner
- Mild dish detergent
- Baking soda
Instructions
Remove feces and clumped litter daily to keep the litter box clean. Place a liner in the box to make it easier to change the litter.
Empty the litter often and clean it with a mild detergent weekly. Dry the box thoroughly before you add more litter. Change the litter often to prevent litter box smells.
Replace the litter box if it becomes cracked or if the smell remains after cleaning it. Many litter boxes do not last forever and need to be replaced to keep your home smelling fresh.
Apply a thin layer of baking soda on the bottom of the litter box before you add the litter. The baking soda will absorb the odors from the box.
Set up additional litter boxes in your home if you have multiple cats. Place the litter boxes in different locations to prevent the odor from building up in one place.
