How to Treat Ear Mites With Vinegar

A dog or cat who has ear mites will usually shake its head frequently and scratch or paw at its ears. If you want to treat the animal at home, you can do so with vinegar. Vinegar should kill the ear mites due to the acetic acid, but you will have to treat the animal's ears regularly and persistently.

Instructions

    • 1

Dilute either white vinegar or apple cider vinegar, making a half-vinegar and half-water solution.

    • 2

Soak a cotton ball in the vinegar solution and wring it out into a cat or smaller dog's ear. Rub the ear around so that the solution gets all over the inside of the ear. For a larger dog, pour the vinegar solution into the ear and make sure it coats the inside.

    • 3

Allow the dog or cat to shake its head to get rid of the excess vinegar solution.

    • 4

Wipe out the ears with clean cotton balls.

    • 5

Repeat twice a day until the infestation is gone.
