Instructions
Purchase aloe vera juice that is intended for cats, or extract the juice yourself from the aloe vera leaf.
Use a syringe to measure half a milliliter of aloe vera juice. Start your cat out with one dose a day for at least a week to determine if it will have a negative reaction. According to the ASPCA website, reactions may include vomiting, anorexia, diarrhea and tremors. Discontinue use immediately and consult your veterinarian if your cat experiences any of these symptoms.
Give your cat half a milliliter twice a day orally with a syringe or mixed in its food if it shows no negative reaction to the aloe after a week. If your cat has no negative reaction over the next week the dose can be doubled to 1 ml (1 cc) twice a day. If the aloe has no effect in treating your cat's symptoms consult your veterinarian to rule out serious illness.
How to Give Aloe Vera Internally to Treat a Sick Cat
Aloe vera is considered toxic to cats by the Animal Poison Control Center. However, holistic veterinarian practitioners have found that aloe vera juice extracted from an organically grown freshly cut leaf can have several health benefits for cats. According to the Chaparral Animal Health Center's Wellvet website, aloe vera juice can be used internally to treat bowel disorders, constipation and inflammation. Always consult with your veterinarian before you begin giving your cat any supplement, especially aloe vera, which in some forms is very harmful to cats.
