Natural Flea Removal for Cats

Fleas are a common problem for most pet owners, particularly if your pet spends time outside. A flea infestation is not only uncomfortable for your feline friend, it is also unpleasant and potentially dangerous for you and your family. If your cat is often scratching, it probably has fleas.

Spread an old newspaper out on the floor. Hold your cat firmly in your arms. Comb your cat with a flea comb, start at the head and gently comb towards the tail. make sure the comb is touching the cats skin, but not digging into its flesh.

Burning the fleas will ensure that they do not make their way back into your home.

Flick the flees from the comb onto the newspaper as you comb. Make sure you comb the entire cat, including its tail. Pay particular attention to behind its ears and in the thick hair on its neck. Stop combing when you have combed the entire cat and no more fleas are coming off onto the comb or the newspaper. Fold up the newspaper with the fleas inside, and burn it or throw it straight into the trash bin outside your house.

Place the capsule at the back of the cats mouth.

Hold your cat in one hand. Put the capsule of brewers yeast in its mouth with the other hand. Hold the cat's mouth closed until it swallows the capsule. Give the cat one capsule twice a week. The smell of the yeast will be present in your cat's fur and prevent the fleas from being attracted to your cat.

Fleas lay eggs in the fibers of your carpet.

Mix four parts Borax with one part rock salt. Sprinkle the mixture over any carpets in your house. Leave for 24 hours before sweeping or vacuuming the carpets. The mixture will penetrate the fibers and kill the fleas and eggs. Repeat the process every two weeks to keep fleas out of your home.
