How to Prepare Homemade Cat Food

Many consider cats part of the family and treat them as such. When you notice that your cat may be having problems digesting ordinary commercial cat food, you naturally look for a solution. Homemade cat food provides wholesome ingredients as well as a chance to show your kitty some extra love. It is vital that you transition your cats to a homemade food--or to any new food--slowly to avoid digestive problems, and it is equally important that you speak with your veterinarian before beginning a transition, especially if the cat has health issues.

Instructions

    • 1

Cut up all of the meat and bones into small pieces approximately the size of a pencil eraser. You do not have to use the bones.

    • 2

Put the vitamins, taurine, and salmon oil into the water and stir until the ingredients are well blended, if not dissolved.

    • 3

Separate the eggs. Place the yolks in with the meat. Lightly scramble the whites.

    • 4

Combine the meat and yolks with the water and vitamin solution, along with the egg whites, in a large container and mix until you get an even consistency. You can mix with a spoon or electric mixer. Also, if you don't mind getting messy, you can mix gently by hand which keeps the smaller pieces intact and avoids creating a mushy consistency.

Store in the freezer and feed your cats as needed.
