Homemade Cat Flea Powder

Fleas are the bain of any pet owner's existence. Whether biting you or your pets, fleas are a terrible nuisance, but many of the commercially available solutions contain harsh chemicals. You can make a cat flea powder at home with nontoxic dried flowers to save money and spare you and your pet the toxic chemicals of conventional flea treatments.

  • Dried black alder flowers
  • Dried citronella flowers
  • Dried eucalyptus flowers
  • Dried laurel flowers
  • Dried marigold flowers
  • Dried pennyroyal flowers
  • Dried rosemary flowers
  • Dried rue flowers
  • Dried winter savory flowers
  • Dried wormwood flowers
  • Mortar and pestle
  • Cat brush

Instructions

      Select any one or a combination of the following dried flowers: black alder, citronella, eucalyptus, laurel, marigold, pennyroyal, rosemary, rue, winter savory and wormwood.

      Grind your chosen selection of dried flowers into a fine powder with a mortar and pestle.

      Rub the powder into your cat's fur gently, using a handful at a time. Make sure to rub the solution down to the roots.

      Brush out the excess or large pieces of the ground dried flowers with a cat brush.
