How to Buy Frontline Combo for Cats

Frontline Combo is a liquid supplied in one-dose pipettes to treat your cat for fleas, ticks and biting lice. It contains two active ingredients: fipronil, which kills the adult parasites, and (S)-methoprene, which prevents development of the eggs and larvae.
  1. Frontline

    • The Frontline range is produced and sold by Merial Animal Health worldwide. In the U.S. the combined fipronil/(S) methoprene product is sold as Frontline Plus while in Britain, France and Italy it is marketed as Frontline Combo. You may buy the simpler Frontline Spot-on-which contains only fipronil over the counter at a pet store or pharmacy but you will need a prescription to buy Frontline Combo.

    Veterinarian

    • Your cat must be registered with and seen by a veterinarian for it to be prescribed Frontline Combo. Your cat will be given a health check, then you may purchase the product from your veterinarian to treat and prevent fleas, ticks and lice. Should you not wish to buy Frontline Combo at the surgery then ask for a written prescription to purchase it elsewhere. There may be a charge for the prescription.

    Pharmacy

    • Take or send your prescription to a pharmacy who can then sell you Frontline Combo. Most doses which are not purchased from veterinarians are bought from online pharmacies where it can frequently be found at a cheaper cost.
