Natural Vitamins for Cats

Felines have specific dietary needs that keep them healthy and happy. Feeding a cat with natural vitamins and supplements can boost the immune system and ward off diseases. Natural supplements also feed a feline with the essentials, avoiding additives, preservatives and fillers that are not needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
  1. A Natural Cat Diet

    • Feeding a cat a natural diet will enhance the amount of vitamins and minerals it is receiving. Use raw food such as ground beef, chicken, lamb or turkey as protein sources. Zucchini, carrots, broccoli and corn are good sources for vegetables. Cats will also receive nutrition from grains such as barley, brown rice and oats. This natural diet gives cats better nutrition and avoids fillers and rancid meat products that might be included in dried cat food or kibble. Serve a variety of food to prevent allergies and also to increase appetite.

    Natural Vitamins for Felines

    • In addition to a natural diet, adding human grade vitamins will supplement and boost a feline's immunity. A feline diet needs 400 international units of vitamin E, 10,000 international units of vitamin A and 400 international units of vitamin D. Add 1,000 milligrams of vitamin C to the cat's diet as well.

    Natural Minerals for Felines

    • Cats, like humans, need minerals to process and absorb the nutrients and vitamins they receive. Mix minerals separately or use a natural combination supplement like Nupro to get the needed nutrients. Administer minerals such as yeast powder, kelp powder and bone meal daily to prevent disease and protect immunity. Mix 2 cups of yeast, 1/4 cup of kelp powder and 1/4 cup of bone meal thoroughly to give the right balance of minerals to cats.

Adding lecithin, a supplement made of choline and inositol, will regulate the nutrients in the cat's body. Lecithin is highly caloric in nature and therefore can increase a cat's weight. Cutting back on lecithin to reduce the weight in a feline is fine, provided it eats a well-balanced diet. Administer 1 to 2 tsp. of mineral mix a day with meals.
