Things You'll Need
- Insulin regime
- Low carbohydrate cat food
Instructions
Take your cat to a veterinarian and allow him to perform a full examination. You need to know exactly where you cat's illness is holding so you can administer the correct amount of insulin.
Follow the insulin regime prescribed by your vet. You need to follow the schedule strictly for your cat's health to improve.
Introduce a low carbohydrate food into your cat's diet when you start the medical treatment.
Switch your cat's food from the old one to the low carbohydrate one gradually over the course of his insulin treatment. If you have a six-month course to administer, switch out the meals of old food for the new food over the six months so it is consistent and gradual.
Bring your cat back to the vet when the insulin course is finished and make sure the diabetes is in remission. You should now have completely switched to low carbohydrate food.
