Homemade Feline Herbal Flea Treatment

Fleas are a common problem amongst cats, especially those who spend time outside. Once infested, the fleas cause itching, skin irritation and sometimes swelling. There are dozens of flea remedies available in pet stores, but many of them contain unnatural chemicals. For a more natural approach, you can use herb tinctures, which are essentially herbs infused with alcohol. When used correctly, this herbal remedy is effective and poses no risk to your cat.

Instructions

    • 1

Dilute five drops of sage tincture in 1/2 cup of water in a bowl. Stir with a spoon to mix.

    • 2

Dip your fingers into the liquid. Rub the liquid lightly onto the cat's coat, primarily on the back and sides.

    • 3

Rub two drops of the sage tincture into the cat's collar. Massage it into the top of the collar rather than the underside where it comes in contact with the cat's skin. An undiluted sage tincture may irritate the skin.
