Feline Iridology

Feline iridology is the process of diagnosing health issues in cats by examining the cat's iris. According to Frank Navratil, iridologist and nutritionist, it is not practiced worldwide.
  1. Benefits

    • According to Healthy Living, a person versed in iridology can analyze a feline's iris and determine past, present and future health issues. The goal of iridology is to find possible future health issues and have the owner start taking precautionary measure to help prevent the issue from manifesting.

    Process

    • The colors of the iris are the first thing to change when a disease is contracted. Certain parts of the iris represent different organs; if there is any color change, then it is possible there could be a future health issue pertaining to that organ.

    Equipment

    • Feline iridologists use an instrument called an iriscope. According to Iris Diagnosis, the For Your Pet Eyes Only (FYPEO) iriscope has been modified from the human version to capture the iris of an animal.

    Software

    • The FYPEO software gives instant analysis after the scanning of the iris. The program also allows you to import your own iris images.

    Considerations

    • The science of iridology is listed on the Quackwatch website for possible health scams. The site is run by Stephen Barrett, a retired psychiatrist and vice-president of the National Council Against Health Fraud.
