How to Treat a Cat With Zithromax

If your cat gets sick, your veterinarian may prescribe Zithromax for it. Zithromax is used to treat infections of the skin, respiratory tract and urinary tract. Zithromax can even be used to get rid of an ear infection in a cat. It is important that you use the Zithromax as described so that your cat can make a full recovery.

Get a prescription from your vet for the Zithromax. Your vet may sell you the medication directly, but often you can get the medication cheaper from an online pet pharmacy website.

    • 2

Measure out the dose of Zithromax your vet has ordered for your cat. The dosage normally given is between 2.5 mg and 7.5 mg for each pound the cat weighs.

    • 3

Give your cat the Zithromax once or twice per day depending on your vet's instructions.

    • 4

Finish all of the medication that the vet prescribed even if your cat begins to look and act better. Most vets will prescribe Zithromax to be used for a total of seven days.
