Instructions
Exercise to strengthen and tone the muscular system. Walk, climb stairs or go cycling for 30 minutes at least 4 times a week. Sprinting and weightlifting are also recommended to improve the condition of muscles.
Eat a healthy and balanced diet. Avoid foods high in saturated fats, such as butter, cakes and fatty cuts of meat. Eat plenty of foods high in fiber, such as fruit, cereals, rice, pasta and nuts.
Avoid stress as much as possible. It puts unnecessary strain on the muscular system. To de-stress throughout the day, go for a 30-minute walk while listening to relaxing music. Swimming and yoga are other ways to relieve stress.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day. That will help to keep the body hydrated and the muscles working properly. Avoid drinking excessive amounts of alcohol because it dehydrates the body, affecting muscles.
Sleep an appropriate amount of time. When combined with the other methods mentioned, sleep helps to keep the muscular system healthy by giving muscles time to relax.
How to Protect the Muscular System
The muscular system is a collection of muscles that are a vital part of everyday living. Voluntary movements such as walking and talking are not possible without the muscular system working properly and effectively. The muscular system plays a role in everyday tasks that most of us take for granted. It is responsible for the involuntary movements bodies rely on to live, most notably it is responsible for keeping the heart pumping and blood running through arteries and veins. As people age, muscles become weaker. So looking after them becomes more important.
