Instructions
Contact your veterinarian immediately, as most cases of severe diarrhea can only be properly treated by a veterinarian. (Dysentary, intestinal problems, even tumors may be the underlying cause of feline diarrhea.) Your cat could also become dehydrated very quickly when suffering from severe diarrhea, and this is potentially fatal.
See if any of the members of your household are suffering from diarrhea. If so, your cat (and housemates) may be suffering from intestinal parasites. Seek medical attention for your cat and any affected members of your household to treat this problem.
Follow all of your veterinarian's instructions for care thoroughly, such as restrictions to and changes in diet, as well as fluid and medication administration.
Try some home remedies to treat and prevent mild to moderate diarrhea once your cat's condition improves. Add some yogurt to your cat's daily diet until the condition clears up. Make sure to provide plenty of fluids, or even offer your cat some Pedialyte to replace lost electrolytes due to diarrhea. Temporarily offering your cat a bland diet of boiled chicken and white rice helps rest the stomach and intestines and allow them to heal.
