Cat Sneezing & Diarrhea

Sneezing and diarrhea are common problems cats may display. When your cat experiences either of these problems, it is best to observe their symptoms to properly diagnose the underlying cause.
  1. Sneezing Due To Allergies

    • Cats, like humans, can have allergies. Smoke, perfumes or seasonal factors can trigger such allergies.

    Sneezing Caused By Infections

    • Viral upper respiratory infections often cause constant sneezing. Sometimes this is accompanied by a runny nose with colored discharge or runny eyes. Sneezing can also be because of bacterial infections such as bordetella.

    Dental Problems And Sneezing

    • Dental problems in cats, such as a tooth abscess, can penetrate the nasal region and cause sneezing.

    Food Changes And Diarrhea

    • A sudden change in your cat's diet can be a cause of diarrhea.

    Stress And Diarrhea

    • Changes in your cat's home environment can lead to stress and result in diarrhea.

    Intestinal Parasites And Disease

    • Intestinal parasites, such as roundworms, are a very common cause of diarrhea. Inflammatory bowel disease, feline leukemia or hormonal disorders also cause diarrhea. A veterinarian can test for these illnesses to confirm the underlying cause.
