Nolvasan for Feline Acne

Teenagers aren't the only ones who worry about acne; this condition can affect cats as well. Feline acne is usually a bacterial infection commonly found on the cat's chin and around the mouth. Cats with oily skin are more likely to get acne.
  1. Nolvasan

    • Nolvasan is a disinfectant solution for veterinary use in animals. Its active ingredient is chlorhexidine.

    Application

    • Dilute the Nolvasan with water so that it is very pale in color; this is especially important if bathing your cat is difficult, and rinsing the product off might be problematic. Carefully wash the affected area and rinse as thoroughly as possible.

    Frequency of Treatment

    • Wash the affected area with the Nolvasan solution once or twice a day.

    Availability

    • A prescription is not necessary for Nolvasan. This product can be purchased online or at pet supply stores.

    Precautions

    • Avoid getting Nolvasan in your cat's eyes, mouth and mucous membranes. If your cat's acne is severe, make an appointment with your veterinarian to make sure it is properly cleared up.
